What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer you will join CIBC’s Infrastructure Planning & Engineering team to consult on a wide spectrum of existing and emerging infrastructure technologies and associated services and processes. You will also be responsible for leading special technical projects. You will be mainly responsible to design, prototype, build, test, automate and troubleshoot a complex infrastructure that maintains the Unix and Linux servers in the bank, with a focus on server management and security. You will provide technical leadership, standards and best practices to Technology teams during the full life-cycle phases of initiatives/projects involving the tools for these infrastructure and level 3 support to resolve technology related incidents. You will evaluate and determine standards and roadmaps for hardware and software, certification of supporting infrastructure, decide how Security Infrastructure is built and recommend standards for organization wide initiatives based on area of expertise. You will integrate technologies that connect to Linux and Unix servers on the enterprise, and their respective tools.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Leadership & Communication – Collaborate with senior leaders across the company and make informed recommendations to enhance solutions certified by Linux Engineering. Weigh business needs against technology offerings, security concerns and provide recommendations to design and support solutions for the Enterprise.

  • Governance – Proactively contribute to governance initiatives in the development of company policies, Standards, audit requirements etc. Provide technical guidance within and outside your own department. Document certification steps and review methodologies according to industry’s best practices.

  • Engineering – Lead evaluation, selection, design and implementation of new and emerging products and techniques; support the development of business/technology proposals by estimating implementation costs and evaluating options; provide comprehensive senior level technical consulting to other IT senior management and senior technical teams; provide subject matter expertise on specific existing technologies. Manage the ongoing vitality of the technology throughout its lifecycle.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience in: design, implementation and support of technologies and technology-based solutions dealing with Unix (Linux and Solaris). You have the knowledge and understanding of marketplace experience, developments and trends.

  • Must have System administration experience with UNIX-like operating systems required, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Solaris (SunOS) are preferred

  • Applicant will be expected to take part in designing automation for processes used for mass patching, configuring and securing of servers

  • Applicant will also be able to troubleshoot issues and incidents on RHEL and Solaris.

  • Must have experience with managing Red Hat Satellite and its Capsules.

  • Must have experience with automation tools and automating processes/tasks; Red Hat Ansible Tower, or plain Ansible are preferred.

  • Nice to have familiarity with Azure or other Cloud providers.

  • Nice to have experience with OS Cluster tools (Infoscale, Red Hat Cluster, etc).

  • Must have experience with Volume Manager (LVM, Veritas VxVM, Solaris Volume Manager, etc).

  • You have strong knowledge of: IT Standards, Policies and Procedures and have the ability to use and administer the organization's technology practices, standards and procedures appropriately to diverse situations.
