COMPENSATION

The current minimum salary is $23.552230 per hour for a 40-hour week increasing to $33.646043 per hour in the sixth year of service. These rates are subject to change as per the Sheet Metal Air Transportation (SMART) Collective Bargaining Agreement. The benefits of this position include but are not limited to, night and weekend salary differentials, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, and a comprehensive medical plan and pension plan.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under supervision this position is responsible for assisting maintainers and supervisors in the maintenance and repair of silicon rectifiers, high tension switch gear, automatic relay panels, circuit breakers; power, telephone, and fiber optic cables; auxiliary equipment and accessories.

The Power Maintainer’s Helper will drive motor vehicles to and from work assignments; keep records and write reports; perform related work. In addition, the candidate will be trained, posted and qualified to perform SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) Operations, overseeing the traction power network.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

• Minimum of two-years full time satisfactory journey experience in the electrical, electronic or electromechanical field.

  DESIRED SKILLS

• Special or technical training in the field of electrical or electronics maintenance and repair.

• Basic knowledge of electrical theory including Ohm’s Law.

• Ability to use a digital multi-meter.

• Graduation from a trade school, technical or vocational high school, approved by a State’s Department of Education or a comparable agency, with a major course of study in electrical, electronic, or electromechanical technology.
