Family Resource Network Direct Support Professional- Respite in Morristown, New Jersey

Established in 1970, FRN offers personalized services for epilepsy, autism, disabilities, and chronic illness. With over 50 programs, we've impacted thousands of lives in 54 years. As an FRN team member, you'll be part of a passionate community dedicated to making a difference every day.The Family Resource Network is looking for an experienced Direct Support Professional who would assist individuals with development or intellectual disabilities and provide support to the caregiver or parent/guardian while they are away. This position will be responsible for working 10+ hours per week with the potential for weekends. Hours can vary depending on the client’s needs but may occur in the later afternoon or early evening hours. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for maintaining the comfort, health, safety, and well-being of individual(s)Is attentive, flexible, and supportive of individuals and their familiesCollaborate with FSS Program Coordinator and family to establish and implement meaningful respite careMaintain regular communication with the Family Support Coordinator Is technologically proficient and able to use company implemented platforms to ensure successful programming and documentationProvide proper care and supervision to individual(s) when services are being providedEncourage and model appropriate social behaviors and interactionsEnsure that all work is carried out in a manner that is both respectful and empowering to families and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilitiesSubmit all pertinent documents, including program notes, timesheets, and incident reports by specified deadlinesContacts FSS Program Coordinator as soon as possible if there are any cancellations or changes in schedulingComplete 6 professional development hours annually and attend quarterly DSP meetingsDemonstrate a friendly, courteous, and professional demeanorPrepare self-evaluation for the Family Support Coordinator and undergo an annual review process as requiredFollow mandatory reporting procedures according to FRN and state protocolsOther duties as assigned by supervisorBENEFITS:Professional Development opportunities: To include job-related training opportunities, in-house CPR and Handle with Care training provided, and compliance training provided by the HR team to help you develop in your role.Technology provided: Company-assigned tablets for most positions as well as company email, dedicated team to assist with technical issues.Support from your team: Supportive supervisors and leaders that support you in order to support our participants, opportunities to advance at the agency.Job Security: A stable job at an established, growing company, Paid orientation, sick time, training, Referral bonus program and a 403b Retirement program.QualificationsPHYSICAL DEMANDS:Must be able to engage in physical activities including:Lifting, moving, or holding weight of 10-30 pounds may be required depending on client needsRespond immediately and appropriately to ensure health and safety needsMaintain mental and physical alertness and an appropriate level of energy to perform essential job requirements.REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GEDMust be able to work 10 or more hours a week with the potential for weekends. Hours can vary depending on client need but may occur in the later afternoon or early evening hours.Meet agency and state requirements, and maintain credentials for the position, which includes ongoing trainings CPR Certification, TB test, etc.Experience with assisting and serving individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred Must submit to a criminal history review/ fingerprinting. All employment and continued employment are contingent upon receipt and maintenance of a satisfactory criminal records review/ fingerprint report.If driving for the agency, a valid driver’s license, proper registration, insurance and satisfactory driver’s record required- these credentials must be maintained for initial and continued employmentDrug Testing required upon hire
