We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Medical Claims Representative in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The role involves processing medical claims, handling correspondence and phone calls from insurance members and healthcare providers, and explaining health insurance coverage to clients. This position serves as the point of contact for clients and members and requires a thorough understanding of medical terminology. Responsibilities:

• Process medical claims in a timely manner with acceptable accuracy

• Handle correspondence and phone calls from insurance members and healthcare providers

• Interpret plan design and language to analyze what is and is not covered for a claim

• Analyze self-funded health plans and use plan language to correspond to necessary inquiries, both verbally and written

• Serve as the point of contact for clients and members

• Investigate patients' claims and determine their status

• Review insurance policies and compare what it covers and what the patient had done

• Process about 16 claims per hour and handle about 30 calls a day

• Adapt to changing processes and procedures

• Communicate effectively over the phone with clients and members

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Medical Administration role or similar

• Proficient in typing with a speed between 45 - 60 WPM

• Experience in processing healthcare claims

• Basic understanding of medical terminology

• Knowledge of healthcare insurance and medical benefits

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks efficiently

• Proficiency in using office software including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

• High school diploma or equivalent education level is required
