Jacobs Airfield Design Engineer - Intermediate Level in Bellevue, Washington

Working on projects for local airport clients. Work includes designing airfield pavement, airfield geometry, drainage, and pavement markings for airfield facilities. Assistance with cost estimating through quantity takeoffs and development of technical specifications based on FAA standards. Assistance with development of construction phasing and timing for bidding documents. Field work including field surveying, construction observations and general site evaluations. Assistance with preparation of construction plans, exhibits using AutoCAD Civil 3D. Producing engineering designs, writing project design reports, final reports & assisting project managers with construction administration. Assistance with conceptual studies, researching design standards, exhibit preparation & documenting findings for Project Task Leaders and Project Managers. Co-ordinates with Design Managers in areas of airfield, stormwater, electrical, environmental and construction disciplines.

Telecommuting is allowed.

TRAVEL: 10% travel to project sites

Here’s what you’ll need :

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Bachelor's Degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field and 2 years of work experience in job offered or related occupation.

SPECIFIC SKILLS:

Expertise/ knowledge of: AutoCAD, Civil3D and civil engineering analysis, precepts, and practices. Contract bidding and administration; observe construction activities on site and coordinate construction management documentation and other related tasks. Development of reports, quantity estimates, plans and specifications using FAA, ICAO criteria and standards. Conceptualize the civil design approach for airfield improvements, drainage, and related projects and continue through the design phase as part of a design team. Coordinate and schedule work to meet project on-time and on-budget goals and requirements. Work Independently with Airfield design requirements. Ability effectively communicates with clients as required. Bituminous and concrete pavement thickness design and Geometric layout/design of runways, taxiways and aprons. Develop construction phasing concepts and time requirements to complete needed construction work with minimal impacts to airport operations.

Salary range: $73,174 - $132,600
